Session Overview

How Sessions Work

Every client follows a structured, data-guided progression, starting with the Adaptive Phase. Here's why that matters, and what each phase looks like.

Why Everyone Starts in the Adaptive Phase

It's not a beginner phase, it's the foundation.

No matter someone's age, fitness level, or wellness background, every client starts with the Adaptive Phase. This isn't about ability, it's about learning how that specific person's body responds to changes in oxygen levels.

During these initial sessions, the Mito2 system collects real-time data on how quickly the body adjusts and recovers. That data is what guides every decision going forward, when to progress, how to adjust, and what the ideal session looks like for each individual.

The data decides when to move forward, not guesswork.

The 3-Phase Progression

Each phase increases session volume gradually. The difference between phases is simple: how long the body spends practicing its oxygen response per session.

Phase 1Start Here

Adaptive Phase

Where every client begins

The body learns to respond to changes in oxygen levels. This phase establishes a baseline for each individual, how quickly they adapt, how they recover, and what pace is right for them.

~28–35 min per session
4 cycles per session
2–3× per week for 4–8 weeks

Why this matters

Starting here isn't about being a beginner. It's about gathering the data we need to personalize every session that follows.

Phase 2

Conditioning Phase

Building on the foundation

With a solid baseline established, session volume increases. One additional cycle adds more time for the body to practice its oxygen response, strengthening the adaptation.

~35–40 min per session
5 cycles per session
2–3× per week for 4–6 weeks

Why this matters

Progression is guided by data from prior sessions, not assumptions. The system and your team determine readiness together.

Phase 3

Optimized Phase

Peak protocol

The full protocol. Six cycles at the highest session volume. Clients who reach this phase have demonstrated consistent, measurable adaptation across multiple sessions.

~42–47 min per session
6 cycles per session
2–3× per week for Ongoing maintenance

Why this matters

This is where long-term wellness routines are built. Many clients maintain this phase as part of their ongoing self-care.

About Movement During Sessions

Resting sessions are recommended first. Movement (like cycling) can be introduced gradually based on client response and clinician discretion. Your facility's qualified clinician determines the appropriate intensity for each individual.

Built-In Safety at Every Step

The Mito2 system is designed to keep clients safe automatically, so your team can focus on delivering a great experience.

Real-Time Monitoring

SpO₂ and heart rate are tracked continuously throughout every session. If levels drop outside the safe range, the system responds automatically.

Automatic Safety Switching

The Mito2 system will automatically switch to enriched oxygen recovery if it detects the client needs it, no staff intervention required.

Structured Progression

Clients only advance when their session data supports it. There's no rushing the process, every step is guided by measurable readiness.

What a Typical Session Looks Like

1

Arrive & Get Comfortable

The client sits or reclines comfortably. A staff member fits the breathing mask and SpO₂ sensor.

2

Session Begins

The Mito2 system alternates between lower and higher oxygen levels in timed cycles. The client simply breathes normally.

3

Real-Time Monitoring

Staff can observe live metrics on the 24" touchscreen, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and cycle progress.

4

Review & Next Steps

After the session, results are displayed on screen. Staff walks through key metrics and schedules the next visit.
